Visit to the big smoke

I went to visit my mate Dan down in London for the weekend which was quite nice, good to have a chill out relaxing weekend thatn working constantly.

We went for a few walks on saturday, headed to central and started having a walk around, down by the river front near Tate Modern, through Leicester Square, Covent Garden, Oxford Street etc. Never realised how close a lot of the tube stations are to each other.

Funny thing is, the more I go, the more I want to go back to London, don’t think I can live there, though I love the hectic lifeestyle, its just not me :)

Fashion studio assist with Eddie Cheng again

This is my 2nd studio assist with Eddie, we had a crazy sassy model Sasha, who is also from the Boro (bless!), and the fantastic MUA Zana. After an initial early afternoon of laughter, with random topics of fetishes from clowns to toes… I got on to doing some behind the scene shots.

Eddie has been working on his new concepts and this shoot is reflecting in his “Dark Fashion” portfoliio. A mix of the type of studio lighting involved on light shot against a silver reflecting umbrella and I was holding a silver reflector on the other side of the model.

Makeup was very colourful, another fantastic job from Zana… seriously, where do these MUA’s appear from? :D

Band practice

For once, we had our band practice over in Bedford, Marc the bassist had acquired an old drum kit for the time being, and when I say old, i mean self painted, torn drum heads, and cymbals that sound like 1 inch thick tin cans.

All in all, we got one of our songs done and recorded in an acoustic session in a garage. Makes me want to get a proper acoustic drum kit as I currently play with my Roland TD-12 electronic kit.

Once we have more test tracks and covers, we will upload some videos for you all to see. If you can’t wait, join our facebook group www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=56927881266

Theatre shoot “The Crucible” at Madcap

One of my mate’s Andrew Davis is featuring in a theatre production held at the Madcap theatre in Milton Keynes, details on the production is on the following web site www.peppersghost.uk.com.

“The Crucible” – Arthur Miller’s classic parable of mass hysteria draws a chilling parallel between the Salem witch hunt of 1692 – “one of the strangest and most awful chapters in human history” and the McCarthyism which gripped America in the 1950’s. The story of how the small community of Salem is stirred into madness by superstition, paranoia and malice, culminating in a violent climax, is a savage attack on the evils of mindless persecution and the terrifying power of false accusations. ( Penguin Modern Classics)

This extraordinary play remains as relevant today as it ever was as we can see parallels in our own lives, the media and across the world.

My bro’s in town!

Yep, you’ve heard it right, not only has he passed his test, he has come down for a few days for a visit. To be fair, all we have really done was chilled out and played on xbox/ps3 haha, can’t help it, deadly hooked on Street Fighter IV. I had shown him around MK town but there’s not much to show. We did go for a few pub meals, can’t go wrong with Toby’s Carvery :D

We went to see Watchmen on Weds, and although this was a good film (and a long one), I felt you had to read up on the comics beforehand just to get more of an insight in to the characters portrayed. I got a bit confused as to what was happening, as it was quite in depth but not enough. I definately recommend people watch this.

On thurs, my bro went to the big smoke, yes that’s London, for the first time like ever! Can’t believe in 22 years, he has never been before.

Fashion studio assist with Eddie Cheng

I first heard about Eddie from when I did my shoot with Amanda and Dora in Manchester last month, I just had to check him out to see what the big fuss was about ;)

Wow, all I have to say is wow for this fella, I absolutely love his studio work. Considering he has spent 3 months shooting fashion portraits, and as most people have said, he has achieved more in that space of time than some have over 2 years, including myself. The funny thing is that he is from a commercial/product/graphic design background and yet his creativity has flown into this new area of portrait photography. It’s fair to say I come from a wedding photography background rather than straight on fashion but I’m hoping to change that and not pigeon hole myself into wedding photography only.

After some chatting over email, he had invited me down to assist him in Hemel at his studio as he had a long day shoot with a few models and MUA Farzana Saiyed. I have to add, this was a long day, I was there from 9am and left just shy of 10pm to head back to Milton Keynes.

I had taken some PJ style behind the scenes shots to show some of the amazing work that goes into a shoot. I hope to assist him again in the near future, and I personally thank him for mentoring me :)

You can see his work at http://web.mac.com/eymc275/creative/welcome.html

Long weekend in Manchester

Took the Friday off work and went up on Thursday night to see one of my bests from uni Sue and her husband Lee, he had got street fighter IV on the ps3 so it’s always a good excuse to go visit :)

I had a fashion shoot with Amanda and MUA Dora Chan on the Friday down in the woods, was very cold and windy, but at the same time I was practicing my off camera flash which I have still yet to get down to a tee.

On the Saturday I had a fashion shoot with Natalie India Balmain and MUA Harkirandip Kaur, this was set a really cool bar in Manchester. Both set of photos and behind the scenes shots will be up soon.

I was out on the evening with Sue and Lee and met up with Susie and some of her mates at tv21, love that place, good music, good booze, good company :D

Milo the chihuahua

I haven’t got many pet shots in my portfolio so after putting out a cast call, I got a chance to shoot with a young chihuahua. Quite of a funny dog, cute but stands tall at the same time. Loved the shoot.
